6th ANNUAL NORTHERN CALIFORNIA IRISH WOLFHOUND
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
For the sixth straight year, the Northern California Irish Wolfhound Club reserved Area 1 of Phoenix Dog Park to hold their Ice Cream Social.
The weather during prior events has been sunny or overcast, but nothing stopped the event from taking place. This year, the weather forecast for November 1st predicted rain with an estimate of up to half an inch for the Saturday event.
A few days prior to the event, FORDOG asked the event organizer if she thought the event would be cancelled. Her answer: "Nope, no cancelling here! We have our pop-ups and tarps and may look a bit like a tent city but we'll be there.... We've got a club member who just moved to Oregon last month but is coming back just for this event. I can't let her down!"
The group set up at 8am and it RAINED! Did they leave? No. In fact, there were approximately 25 or more Irish Wolfhounds in attendance.
One owner was quoted as saying that this is the type of weather that Irish Wolfhounds love best in Ireland, and they're having a great time.
Do dog owners love their pets? You bet! In fact, we spied 4 or 5 owners from FORDOG in Area 2, some with umbrellas, having a session (albeit wet!) with their pets.
The following pictures were taken just before lunch:

It's raining, but doesn't seem to phase these
dog owners. |
Tents, raincoats, umbrellas, and... ICE CREAM? |

One great feature of these breeds, you can't tell
when they dirty! |
Rain? What rain? |

 |
| Did I mention the WIND! |
The rain didn't seem to keep away FORDOG
visitors in Area 2 either! |

Congratulations to the Northern California Irish Wolfhound club for a successful event. We are always glad to see these gentle giants at our facility. We also thank the members of your organization who have faithfully supported our dog park and our annual Fair Oaks Dog Walk.
