PICK-UP BAGS AND DISPENSERS
October 8, 2008
Five out of 10 new heavy duty, professional bag dispensers have been installed throughout the dog park, with another five units to be installed in the near future. Last year, Phoenix Dog Park used over 13,000 waste disposal bags, and this year, we have already broken that record. The current bag dispensers are mail boxes with bags donated by our dog owners. Each mail box can hold about 60 to 80 bags if we really stuff them in. However, this also meant that volunteers had to come out up to twice a week to keep them full.
With the new dispensers, each unit holds up to 1000 bags each. That will be 10,000 bags available for cleanup when all of the dispensers are installed. Although not completely biodegradable, these bags are marked eco-friendly. Bags from grocery stores are not considered bio-degradable to any great extent, so this new replacement is a step in the right direction environmentally.

Phoenix Dog Park has always had the reputation of being one of the cleanest, if not the cleanest dog park in the county. Keep up the good work, folks!
