INTERESTED IN BECOMING A DOG PARK DOCENT?
In 2008, FORDOG created a formal “dog park docent” program to continue and enhance the work done by earlier volunteers in creating a dog park that is safe, clean and friendly. Our reputation for these qualities seems to set us apart from other similar facilities, and we want very much to build on that.
With growing numbers of visitors comes the need to grow the number of docents, and we’re looking for volunteers: could YOU help?
What do our Docents do? They …
Docents aren’t “dog park police” but rather friendly educators. They answer questions, and they teach by example in keeping the park the great place it’s become for both dogs and their owners.
We think that docents are key to the success of our Fair Oaks dog park, but we don’t expect them to “go it alone.” We’ll provide an orientation that will help you learn what you need to know.
If being a docent is something you can do – and would like to do! – please email fordog@comcast.net for details of the next orientation session.XIt will be held in a nearby home, and will last about an hour.
Oh … and docents aren’t given a set schedule for being “on duty.” This is just something you do when you’d be at the dog park anyway. XAll we ask you to do is remember to wear the name badge and a smile!
