VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR ON MAY 10TH!

Date = Saturday, May 10th
Start time: 9 a.m.

During the closure of our dog park, two FORDOG maintenance projects are scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.  Both require some degree of physical labor, but if we have enough people, both can be completed in an hour or so.

1.  Re-apply water sealer to the shade structures:

We need to protect the wood from moisture -- which includes the summer's irrigation sprinklers as well as next year's rains -- to keep the structures sound for many years.

If we have 4 people per structure, and if most of them can work on a 6-foot ladder, we should be able to finish fairly quickly.  While we don't want a lot of dripping, thoroughness is the goal more than neatness, and we'll have a few tarps to help keep drips off the concrete and the benches.

FORDOG is providing the materials, although if you have a ladder and a way to get it there, bring it along.

2.  Add paver stones to bare dirt areas in Area 3: Earlier sprinkler problems created a mud hole that has turned to bare dirt, which becomes a mud hole again in the winter.  We also get dogs running the fence and plowing into the corners, creating more bare dirt that becomes mud.  We need three or four people with muscle and a little stamina to level out the ground and lay paver stones in place.  (Ladies, can your husband or son help here?)  We have a straw boss -- some of you know Travis -- who will have the project planned, he just needs some manual labor to make it happen.  And another wheelbarrow would help.  Again, with enough people, this won't take long.

If you can let us know in advance how many people we can count on, that will be very much appreciated. E-MAIL FORDOG at FORDOG@COMCAST.NET

The park will be locked, but we'll make arrangements to get the gates opened for us.

OH ... please don't bring your dogs along: you won't be able to watch them, the gates will be standing open, etc.

THANK YOU!
