We would like to tell you about our dog June Bug. She is a 5-year old retired racing Greyhound. We adopted her last May 8th from the Greyhound Adoption Center through Linda Makely. She is an absolutely wonderful dog.
Like most racing Greyhounds, she spent her life in a cage and has had to learn about houses, glass doors, and toys. In spite of her background, though, she is the kindest, sweetest dog as are most Greyhounds, and gets along great with our beagle/basset and two cats.
Since adopting her, we have brought her to the Phoenix Dog Park several times, and she gets along great with the other dogs. She is obviously the fastest dog there (her top speed was 39.99 MPH at the Caliente track where she raced) but can rarely get up to speed and, like most Greyhounds again, is ready for a nap after a few runs after the ball. By the way, she is expert at catching balls out of the air and she loves people.
We've met many wonderful people at the dog park and look forward to visiting more often as the weather dries out the field.
