Contrary to many first impressions, Kira is NOT a Sheltie.  She just meets the minimum standards for size & weight for Collie bitches, having been born the smallest of her sister and two brothers.  Bred from champion show stock, her sire just received Register of Merit, and her dame is in pursuit of her majors to finish. 

However, to belie her lineage, Kira is a most gregarious creature.  Many people at the dog park have commented that Kira is ".....one of the most well mannered dogs here."  She enjoys greeting people gathered at the park some times more than romping with the other dogs.  To the chagrin of many, if other dogs are roughhousing or being rowdy, Kira will run in circles around them, barking as if to say "OK guys, break it up!" - and to Dave's relief, she would rather not get involved in a fight. 

At home, she is a true herder, keeping a watchful eye on Dave and his mom at all times.  If the two are in different parts of the house, Kira will pick a neutral spot where she can literally keep an eye on both of them at the same time.  If one or the other moves, she moves.  When resting, she likes to use one of her plush toys, or a convenient pair of shoes as a pillow - even a pair of feet will do on occasion!  Happy and contented, it's no wonder you'll see Kira walking around with her "Collie Smile" all the time.
