Molly actually chose us. When we went to look for a dog as our daughter was about to go to college - we looked at a litter of Goldens and this little fuzz ball came up and lay down in our daughter's lap.
In 1997 Molly developed cancer. It was amazing because I also was diagnosed with a melanoma. We got each other through those challenges. Then a while later she developed a sarcoma in her left front shoulder. After a lot of discussion with our vet, we decided that the best course was to amputate the leg. Molly went through that operation and recovery almost stoically. Molly loved playing with a frisbee. She also loved to greet the people in the park. She was not very much interested in the other dogs, but she would never leave without greeting all of the people who were there.
In January, Molly developed a third case of cancer and this was what she finally succumbed to. She was with all her family when she died. We miss her but we are constantly reminded of her evenness of temper and all her other positive qualities.
