Pepper was an absolute joy. Pepper was Colleen’s first dog and came into her life as a tiny pekingese puppy in 1992. Kermit arrived in 1996 and later joined the family as Colleen’s husband in 2000. Although Kermit did not like dogs, it didn’t’ take long for Pepper to capture Kermit’s heart and soul. Pepper taught Kermit the meaning of unconditional love and forever changed his perspective on life (his words).
Kermit is now an avid lover of dogs, all shapes and sizes. Pepper never met a stranger and greeted everyone with an enthusiastic wagging tail and a big doggy smile. She loved strolling around Phoenix Park with her Mom (Colleen) and Dad (Kermit) on cool evenings. She also loved running on the beach at full throttle with Colleen and Kermit at her side.
Pepper lived a full life of 14 wonderful years and was loved beyond measure. She was sick for just a brief period at the end of her life, diagnosed with an inoperable cardiac hemangiosarcoma (invasive cancer growing on her beautiful heart). Although it shattered Colleen and Kermit into a million pieces, they knew it was time to let Pepper go. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 19, 2006, held tightly by her Mom and Dad.
In Pepper’s memory and in thanks for all she taught Colleen and Kermit, they adopted four dogs from local shelters in 2006 and 2007: Cody, Casey, Kalie and Peanut. Kermit and Colleen will always have adopted dogs in their lives. It’s the least they can do. Shine on Pepper.
