EVENTS at Phoenix Dog Park & elsewhere in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area

NOTE TO MEETUP GROUPS: Phoenix Dog Park is a Public Facility. Meetup groups agree to share the areas where they hold their events. If a group wishes to use an area of the dog park for their exclusive use, please contact the Fair Oaks Parks and Recreation Department for costs.

We will also post any other dog related event in the Sacramento Area if the event organizers will send FORDOG the information in a timely manner. FORDOG does reserve the right, however, to refuse to post any events that they deem inappropriate or not within the scope of their mission statement.    Send E-Mails to FORDOG@Comcast.Net.

MEETUP GROUPS - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING!

For those of you who are new to our website/facility, you will want to know that the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District has a "hotline" phone number that you can call during the rainy season to check on whether or not the dog park is open.  When there has been significant rain, they close the dog park to keep the dogs from tearing up the turf.   If you have any doubt about when that applies, you should call the following number (it's a recorded message, so you can access the information 24/7):

916-966-1011 (extension 23) OR:  Follow this link to the Park District's Field Closure Update page.

The FORDOG volunteer group is NOT informed of changes in status due to weather, so we can't tell you when these closings will occur or how long they will last.  Given the time of the year, we urge you to check to make sure, especially if you live some distance from the dog park.

Canine Good Citizen Clinic and Test (Roseville)

This spring the Roseville Dog Owners’ Group will be conducting the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Clinic and Test.  The clinic provides instructions on all the parts of the test.  By attending the clinic, the owner and dog have a greater understanding of what will be on the test.  The test is not about obedience, the owner and their dog must just demonstrate that the dog has good manners.  The clinic (includes the AKC booklet) and test costs only $15.00 each.

There will be two clinics held at Hughes Dog Park, 1600 Parkside Way, Roseville
